Giving, The Essence Of Living

For generations, we've sent out our missionaries around the world, and I'm sorry to say that in many cases they have done nothing more than take the heathen and make them religious. I've been in many foreign countries and I know what I'm talking about. That's not the plan of God.

God wants an army of people who are members of the Body of Christ—not members of a denomination. He wants an army of believers: people who will dare to stand on His Word without compromise; people who will follow Him and obey Him and serve Him, regardless of what the world thinks, or says, or does; people who won't follow the course of the world, who won't yield to the pressures of the world.

God wants a born-again, Spirit-filled, Bible-carrying, Word-believing, faith-talking, armor-wearing army of soulwinners—and I'm proud to be right in the middle of that crowd! How about you? We are that generation the prophets of old would have given anything to be a part.

The Laws Of Prosperity

To prosper in your soul, you must be able to control your mind, your will and your emotions. Just because you have accumulated large amounts of knowledge does not mean that your mind is prosperous. Prosperity of the mind comes when you use the knowledge that has been accumulated—when you are controlling your mind instead of your mind controlling you. Second Corinthians 10:5 says we are to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (or against the Word of God), bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. The person who does this has control of his mind and is in position to prosper mentally. You cannot control your mind completely without the Word of God being alive and operating inside you. Scripture says “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6. Ignorance is lack of knowledge, foolishness is the rejection of knowledge. Whatever satan can do to you, ignorance and foolishness can do to you. Just as demons can torment, ignorance can torment too. If the devil can hinder you from knowing, he can hinder you from getting. I learned early that you cast out demons in the name of Jesus. But you don’t cast out ignorance like you cast out demons in the name of Jesus. You cast out ignorance by getting knowledge. Just like in any successful business where you track the revenue and costs periodically, it is also important to track the expenses in our personal lives. Nigerian women have to become the CFOs of their financial lives and learn to take control of the income they earn now, instead of waiting for their incomes to increase in the future before they learn to manage money. Some women have no idea how much their lifestyle costs. She may not spend recklessly, but she subconsciously develops a habit of spending—good or bad. A Hunger For God

One of the reasons food has this amazing power is that it is so basic to our existence. Why is this? I mean, why did God create bread and design human beings to need it for life? He could have created life that has no need of food. He is God. He could have done it any way he pleased. Why bread? And why hunger and thirst? My answer is very simple: He created bread so that we would have some idea of what the Son of God is like when he says, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35). And he created the rhythm of thirst and satisfaction so that we would have some idea of what faith in Christ is like when Jesus said, “He who believes in me shall never thirst” (John 6:35).
