Your Tomorrow Depends On The Actions You Take Today

I have heard alot of people talk about how good they want their future to be like. How wealthy and successful they intend to become in the future. I believe you must have a tone point in your life, envisaged how you would like your tomorrow to be like. The kind of houses you would like to stay in and the kind of cars you would like to drive. I think everyone of us must have desired success and greatness at some stage of our lives. Most people while growing up usually have a picture of how great they would like to become when they finally become adults. I have heard most people quote Oprah Winfrey by saying: When I look into the future, it's so bright it burns my eyes.

10 Curses That Block The Blessing

Even though God had delivered Larry completely from drug addiction, he had not been delivered from the uncontrollable outbursts of anger that had plagued his life. Larry had tried everything he knew, but he could do nothing to put these terrible moments of rage behind him. These outbursts would come upon him unexpectedly, and when they did, he said and did terrible things to his wife and even terrified his children. After violent episodes, he would apologize in tears and beg his wife to forgive him. Though he would promise to never lose his temper again, sooner or later his control would slip. During one extreme outburst he understood that he had become just like the generations before him, angry and violent. Though he had vowed never to do those things, he had become the very thing that he most hated. In a moment of revelation he knew that he was confronting a generational pattern, acting out his anger just as generations of his family had done before him. He went to the Bible a...

The Broker

The last friend was Critz, an old fraternity pal from their days at Cornell when Morgan ran the student government while Critz stuffed the ballot boxes. In the past four years, Critz had served as press secretary, chief of staff, national security advisor, and even secretary of state, though that appointment lasted for only three months and was hastily rescinded when Critz's unique style of diplomacy nearly ignited World War III. Critz's last appointment had taken place the previous October, in the final frantic weeks of the reelection onslaught. With the polls showing President Morgan trailing badly in at least forty states, Critz seized control of the campaign and managed to alienate the rest of the country, except, arguably, Alaska.  It had been a historic election; never before had an incumbent president received so few electoral votes. Three to be exact, all from Alaska, the only state Morgan had not visited, at Critz's advice. Five hundred and thirty-five for the chal...

How To Sell To Nigerians

I don't know about you, but I absolutely detest it when friends and family try to “force” me to buy what they are selling. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. You are on your own “jejely” and a cousin of yours who just opened his clothing line comes to you. He is just starting out and he needs your support. You are a nice guy and you feel you should support him. It doesn't even matter if his clothes are of top quality or not. Nothing wrong with that. After all, we all need support. No one has reached the top without being assisted by someone one way or the other. No human is an island. So you support. His kinds of clothes are not what you normally wear but you support nonetheless. You get the clothes and give away or keep in your wardrobe or at least wear them once to show your support. If the clothing are of top quality, you can even tag your cousin on social media so others can see. You mention him and his business to a few of your friends with the hope that the...

Power, Politics And Death

Before I could reply, there was a command: “Come straight to the Residence.” Even though Colonel Mustapha Dennis Onoyiveta, aide de camp (ADC) to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and I were friends and often took liberties with each other, the tone with which he spoke on that night of May 5, 2010, was rather unusual. Curiously, I had just left the same Residence (the official home of the president) where I was to keep an appointment with the First Lady, who, as soon as I arrived, was called upstairs. By the time Mustapha’s call came, I was at my apartment to dismiss the PHCN official I had earlier invited to rectify an electrical fault.  While I felt a bit irritated by the commanding tone in his voice, I nonetheless heeded the colonel’s instruction and returned back to the Residence. Defining Moments

Defining Moments is about the unusual encounters that various individuals have had with God that changed absolutely everything about their life. Their thought life changed, as did their ministry gifts and their sense of what might be possible in their lifetime. Each person’s worldview also experienced radical transformation, as he or she was positioned to see the “big picture” through God’s eyes. But for most of them, perhaps their biggest paradigm shift came in relation to their idea of the nature of God and their ability to feel His heart for other people. Seeing these things more clearly always carries a summons with it. They said yes to the call of God and, as a result, became people who shaped the course of world history. Here is the remarkable truth about each of these individuals: not one of them was unusually gifted for such a task. Their gift was God Himself. All of our heroes of the faith were pretty normal people. But that changed when the touch of God upon their lives trans...
